October 07, 2005 | CAE NewsDassault PLM Products Available for 64-bit WindowsMicrosoft Corp. and Dassault Systèmes (DS) (Nasdaq: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) today announced that as part of their strategic alliance, Dassault Systèmes they will make V5 PLM available for Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition, including versions of CATIA V5, DELMIA V5, ENOVIA V5 and SMARTEAM. These versions will take advantage of the full power of the Windows 64-bit architecture to enable customers to create, analyze and manage very large assemblies and complex products, such as entire automobiles or aircraft. This capability considerably reduces product development cycles by accelerating design and enhancing design reviews, product optimization and decision support.
All V5 PLM products will take advantage of the 64-bit architecture of Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. The 64-bit architecture includes memory support up to 128 gigabytes (GB) of RAM and 16 terabytes of virtual memory. Native 64-bit applications will deliver more data per clock cycle, making them run faster and more efficiently. Customers will also be able to move to 64-bit computing and maintain their existing investment in 32-bit software and Windows expertise. The new 64-bit versions of V5 PLM will be available on systems from both Intel and AMD.
These improvements in memory and performance will make an essential difference when reviewing large assemblies with ENOVIA DMU, or when using CATIA V5 Structural Analysis and Design, for instance. They will also enable customers to implement DS’s powerful generative design approach in order to maximize deployment of relational design, as well as to broaden the scope of their hardware investments.
