YTI, CompMechLab and HSE Presents CompMechWorkshop 2007

Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences, Research Centre YTI and St. Petersburg State Polytechnical University Computational Mechanics Laboratory (CompMechLab) announced the 2nd Mikkeli Computational Mechanics Workshop - CompMechWorkshop 2007. The event takes place in Mikkeli, Finland on August 6-10, 2007.

The aim of the workshop is to bring together mechanical simulation experts from all over the world in order to solve industrial engineering problems, share experiences, exchange information, build networks and to spend a lovely week during the summer at the very heart of the country of a thousand lakes.

Companies will have an opportunity to put forward their own engineering problems for the workshop. These simulation problems will then be solved by 20 CompMechLab computing experts. Please note that the engineering problems should be specified to YTI some months prior to the workshop if possible, in order to have them solved in time for the workshop. CompMechLab will solve the problems and the solutions will be presented at the workshop. However companies will also be able to specify problems during the workshop; in which case the simulation will be done either at the workshop or completed afterwards at CompMechLab, timeframes will depend on the problem complexity.

The workshop program will consist of six hours each day involving FE simulation work and simulation problems discussions with the industry people, the results presentation and will end with plenary session lectures on Friday. The social program features a dinner cruise to Lake Saimaa and a banquet at the Tertti Manor.

The Computational Mechanics Workshop offers an FEA/CAD/CAE engineering problems solutions environment including:

- FEA & CAE solutions by CompMechLab team in the following areas:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Linear/Non-linear Structural Mechanics
  • Composite Structures
  • Turbo-machinery Engineering
  • Failure Analysis, Impact and Penetration Analysis
  • Drop/Shock/Crash/Penetration Simulation
  • Crashworthiness Analysis
  • Material Processing
  • Micro Electronic Mechanical Systems (MEMS)
  • Biomedical and others

- FEA & CAE for the large variety of mechanical objects and structures

- FEA & CAE consulting and technical support - During the Workshop you will have a unique opportunity to get answers to any questions you have concerning FE simulation and seek support on topics that interest you

- Authorized FEA & CAE software training:

  • Two or three day basic and introductory training courses for a variety of CAD and CAE software applications for engineering problems solutions (SolidWorks, ANSYS, MSC.Adams, MSC.Patran, MSC.Nastran, LS-DYNA)
  • CompMechLab team have certificates and diplomas from world leading CAD/CAM and CAE software developers – ANSYS Inc., Livermore Software Technology Corporation (LSTC), Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC), SolidWorks Inc.

- Special lectures on the implementation of FE methods at different fields of mechanics

- Implementation of E-CAE projects on collaborative engineering analysis
