Workshop on high-performance computations for multidisciplinary research was held on April 13 inEspoo (Finland) based on CSC (Finnish IT Center for Science) facilities in the frameworks of SNARA project.
This one-day event served for bringing together people working on ICT projects in Finland and Russia and for generating valuable contacts for future collaboration and common interests in new joint pilot projects. CSC is a part of a Finnish national research system. The company provides and develops information technology services for the needs of research, teaching, and for administrative functions to support these.
Among others, issues of engineering computations and computational fluid dynamics solutions with use of CSC resources were discussed. For such computations CSC suggests high-performance clusters with installed academic and commercial software ABAQUS, MSC.Adams, ANSYS, Ansys/CFX, Ansys/ICEM CFD, Fluent.
CompMechLab representatives Dmitriy Mikhaluk and Oleg Klyavin made presentations at the workshop:
D. Mikhaluk, A. Borovkov
Experience of collaboration between CompMechLab of SPbSPU, industrial companies and universities in the area of computer-aided engineering
O. Klyavin, A. Borovkov
Mikkeli Computational Mechanics Workshop - environment for potential mutual projects and initiatives

Among other reporters at the SNARA April Workshop there were Russian specialists from St.Petersburg State Polytechnical University, St.Petersburg State University, Moscow State University, and representatives of Finnish academic organizations: Lappeenranta University of Technology, University of Turku, Turku School of Economics and Business Administration.
