March 22, 2009 | Meetings & VisitsCompMechLab Internship for the students of the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, GermanyMarch 16th, 2009 was the last day of succesfull CompMechLab internship for a group of students from Augsburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany). Three students took part in the internship: Dominic Wagner, Eugen Kalinovski, Tanja Hauser, all from Mechanical Engineering department. CompMechLab supervisors were Dmitriy Mikhaluk, Deputy Head of the laboratory and Eugene Gilyov, PhD student, engineer of CompMechLab.

During the internship students attened short theoretical courses and had practice in the following directions:
- Basics of Finite Element Method;
- Strength and Vibrations of Mechanical Engineering;
- Introduction to interface and features of ANSYS software;
- Verification problems solution in ANSYS;
- FE modeling of a gas turbine blade vibrations.

At the end of their internship the students made the final presentation and demonstrated a high level of skills and knowledge. Coordinator of the internship from Ausgburg University of Applied Scences Dr.-Ing. Vladimir Goldenberg commented the results of the internship:
"Let me thank cordially all the coordinators and tutors who made the presence of our students in St. Petersburg and work under the project successfull and efficient. Our students are under a very good impression of high knowledge level and skills of the internship leaders. After such a success our Mechanical Engineering department is wishing to send a new group of students for the internship in September 2009."
In the frameworks of international student exchange program between St. Petersburg State Polytechnical University and Augsburg University of Applied Science, students from Mechanics and Control Processes department will visit Augsburg in September-October 2009 for a 2-month internship devoted to rapid prototyping technologies.
It should be mentioned that this was not the first experience of international students training in CompMechLab. In September 2008-January 2009 a student from INSA-Rouen (France) Marie Ortegat, visited CompMechLab for a 5-month internship and succesfully assisted in the implementation of the industrial project "Modeling for acoustic leak detection in sub-sea gas pipeline" carried out in CompMechLab for Schlumberger.
Internships of international students in CompMechLab are supported by Acedemic Mobility department and International Academic Cooperation department of IIEP SPbSPU.
