Terrafugia Uses Dassault Systemes to Create Street-Legal Airplane Dassault Systèmes (DS), a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, today announced that its CATIA brand has been chosen by Terrafugia, creators of the revolutionary Transition® Roadable Aircraft, for 3D composite and finite-element modeling. Terrafugia will use CATIA Analysis and CATIA Composites Design (CPD) solutions to design and develop its beta prototype, with delivery expected in 2011.

Cambridge University Students Racing to Design Solar Car in SolidWorks and SIMULIA Abaqus Software Dassault Systèmes, a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, today announced that a team of Cambridge University engineering students is using SolidWorks ® 3D CAD and Abaqus finite element analysis (FEA) software from Dassault Systèmes’ SIMULIA brand to develop a solar-powered car they will race across Australia in the fall of 2009. More spaceship than road vehicle, the car’s flat shape will feature a large solar panel that converts the sun’s energy into speeds of 60 miles per hour or faster as the team races against other teams from around the world. SolidWorks Wins Engineers’ Choice Award Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corp. (DS SolidWorks) announced that its 3D CAD software, SolidWorks® 2009, has won a 2009 Control Engineering Engineers’ Choice Award in the design simulation category.
