Siemens PLM Software announces latest release of Femap for enhanced simulation in product development

Siemens PLM Software, announced the latest release of Femap software,the pre- and post-processor for engineering finite element analysis (FEA) running on the Windows operating system. Enhancements in Femap 10.3 make it easier and significantly faster for end users to work with complex geometry models, and a new user interface feature further extends support for advanced functionality in NX NASTRAN software, the company’s comprehensive FEA application.

An overview of automakers’ PLM systems

Automakers are changing their PLM systems. They are increasingly relying on Dassault’s Catia and SiemensNX for car development. But they are also implementing software from other providers.

At the same time, users of PLM software are calling for more open systems. ProSTEP iViP, a global consortium promoting open standards, recently proposed a "Codex of PLM Openness". Several automakers are participating in a ProSTEP working group to prepare this document.

Siemens PLM Software used for Exagon’s all-electric car

Siemens PLM Software announced its NX software and Teamcenter software were used to design and develop Exagon Engineering’s Furtive-eGT all-electric automobile. The Furtive-eGT, France’s first all-electric luxury car, was created by Luc Marchetti, founder and chairman of Exagon Engineering.
