ANSYS Software Simulates Historic European Flight

ANSYS, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANSS), a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, today announced that its software has been used to demonstrate the air-worthiness of the aircraft that Alberto Santos-Dumont piloted during the first public flight of a heavier- than-air machine in Europe a century ago. A team of Brazilian students recently used ANSYS (R) ICEM CFD (TM) and ANSYS (R) CFX (R) software to analyze and understand airflow around the plane's surface.

Diesel Land Speed Record-Breaking Car Uses ANSYS Technology

ANSYS, Inc., a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, today announced that a British-designed car has employed its FLUENT(R) computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software package to engineer the vehicle's aerodynamics totally without any wind tunnel testing. The JCB DIESELMAX car achieved over 350mph (563kph) to break the world land speed record for diesel-powered cars for the second time in a week on August 23, 2006 at the world-famous Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, a record that had been standing for more than 30 years. The car was piloted by Wing Commander Andy Green, who also set the first-ever (and current) supersonic world land speed record of 763 mph in 1997 in ThrustSSC.

ANSYS Chosen as CAE Software for Chinese Mechanical Design Engineer Qualification

ANSYS, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANSS), a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, announced today that the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES) and the Examination Center of Ministry of Education have formally incorporated ANSYS(R) software into its national Mechanical Design Engineer (MDE) qualification examination. MDE certification was begun in China in April 2006. It is designed to improve the skill level of professionals in the Chinese manufacturing sector, which also widely uses ANSYS software for computer-aided engineering (CAE).
